The State of Cyprus Solar.

How Cyprus PV systems actually performed over the 12 months to August 2026: the losses nobody publishes, measured across the Renewable Labs monitored fleet. Soiling, curtailment, availability and yield, in numbers you can benchmark your own asset against.

Sample: 6 monitored sites · ~340 kWp

Why this report exists

Cyprus has one of the strongest solar resources in the EU, yet there is almost no published, independent data on how its PV fleet actually performs once installed: how much energy is quietly lost to dust, to grid curtailment, and to faults that go unnoticed. Owners, lenders and developers are left benchmarking against generic international figures that don't reflect Cyprus dust, grid or climate.

Renewable Labs operates and monitors solar assets across the island. This report aggregates that operational data (anonymised and pooled, never per-site) into a set of benchmarks you can measure your own system against. It is published annually and updated in place.

Method

  • Source: Anonymised and pooled across the Renewable Labs monitored fleet in Cyprus (6 PV sites, ~340 kWp). Never reported per-site.
  • Period: the 12 months to August 2026.
  • Performance ratio uses the platform's quality-controlled daily PR (clear-sky, complete-data days only).
  • Specific yield is gap-normalised: days with incomplete monitoring are filled at each site's measured PR, correcting an undercount that would otherwise understate the annual figure. Cross-checked against a fully-measured reference site.
  • Curtailment is measured grid-throttling loss as a share of expected output. Availability is the fleet operational figure. Soiling is modelled per-site, not measured per-period (flagged accordingly).
  • Every figure is the median across the fleet; a median resists distortion from any single outlier site.
